Restrictions on deer hunting should be eased because there are no longer as many predators to naturally keep the balance. In 1900, there were approximately 500,000 white-tailed deer, whereas there is now 15,000,000. It is because of the over-population of deer that every year many Americans get into accidents from hitting them on roadways. This is especially dangerous when traveling high-speed roadways such as highways and farm to market roads. Hitting a deer on the roadway is not only dangerous, but can cause thousands of dollars worth of damage to a vehicle. According to State Farm's research, approximately 1 out of 171 Americans hit a deer on the roadway each year. Allowing for more deer to be hunted and/or extending deer season could possibly help with this problem
