I think a high speed rail system on the East Coast and also in other parts of the United States would be great. It would give us another option besides driving and flying. Airlines would have some competition in long distance travel which could bring those prices down. Also, it would be great for jobs while constructing it, tourism, and easing traffic in some areas. We need to stay innovative in the US and move along with more modern forms of transportation. I'm not saying it necessarily has to be fully government funded but someone has to get the ball rolling.
