Dear President Obama,
You have won reelection and have now decided to pivot the conversation towards Deficit reduction. It is obvious republicans will not compromise so put forth a progressive liberal vision that can be the start of the talks, not soft-negotiation.
We petition you to stop using the non-plan Simpson-Bowles as a starting point. It failed.
We petition you to take Medicare/Social security out of any deficit talks.
We the people petition you to appoint liberals such as Paul Krugman or Joseph Stieglitz to SOT.
We the people petition you to raise capital gains rates.
We the people petition you to raise the top marginal tax bracket to 40%.
We the people want you to govern as a progressive liberal - not a 1996 fiscal conservative.
