I feel as though one of the reasons people did not vote is because they didnt necessarily know who they were voting for or the reason why they should or shouldnt vote for them. Not that many people voted this year either because they didnt like the candidates or they just didnt want to but I believe that with better education and everybody taking a hard look at the candidates policy voting could be different in the future.
