Effective Immigration Reform

Created by S.L. on November 21, 2014

Immigration reform should strive to be effective in reducing the number of illegal immigrants that come to this country, not just figure out what to do with them once they're here. Prevention should be part of reform. Automatic citizenship currently granted to all children born in the U.S. regardless of the immigration status of their parents is one of the biggest incentives that motivate immigrants to come here. Remove that incentive and it will greatly reduce the number of illegal immigrants to the U.S. Only those children born in the U.S. to at least one natural born American parent or legal immigrant should be given automatic American citizenship. Doing this will also help to preserve the funds needed for domestic spending programs designed to help American citizens.
