The U.S. Electoral College system is archaic and needs to be changed. The set up it has through most states, a winner takes all set up, allows for elections such as the 2000 and 1876 elections to take place; the candidate who got the popular vote did not win the presidency. The populace was not truly represented in these kinds of elections. In a theoretical case, should a candidate win California by a slim margin and completely ignore, say Texas, he or she would still have the most electoral votes despite not having the most popular vote. Such a system is overdue is not democratic and change is needed. This can come in two ways. One way is only focusing on the popular vote and another way is to have a percentage of the popular vote result in an equal percentage in the electoral college.
