Either completely remove or at least lessen the 25-year ban on importing vehicles not originally sold in the US.

Created by G.O. on April 20, 2016

The 25-year ban included in the Imported Vehicle Safety and Compliance Act of 1988 is not only irrelevant in this day and age, but also completely unjustified. First of all, this legislation was never about safety or emissions. It was not brought on by crash safety advocates or environmentalists. It is a front for US automakers and dealers to attain higher domestic profits instead of losing out on a miniscule portion of said profit to gray imports. Secondly, not enough people are even willing to import a vehicle for the removal of this ban to have any effect whatsoever on the American auto industry as it stands.
