either remove or make optional the words 'Under God' from the pledge of allegiance.

Created by J.S. on November 17, 2014

In 1954, the words 'Under God' were added to the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States. The mere addition of these 2 words to something recited by millions of students each day effectively removed the religious freedom that we as people of the United States should unconditionally enjoy. Our president, Barack Obama stated in a speech several years ago that 'America is not a Christian Nation'. However, with religious references stamped on our currency and forcibly imprinted into the minds of this nation's children, these words could not be more false. We the people of the United States of America request that the words 'Under God' be either completely removed from the Pledge of Allegiance, or be made optional in schools and other places where it may be mandatory to recite the pledge.
