The Electoral College is out of date and broken. The United States should use a true majority voting system.

The modern Electoral College (EC) system is out of date with modern America. The system was set up when most Americans were uneducated and the voting process could take weeks to process. But today information can move the same distances as before in less than a second and America is one of the highest educated countries in the world, making the idea of the EC unnecessary. Today America could easily vote directly for their preferred candidate and have an actual true majority system. The EC is non-proportional to the votes that are cast as well. In elections as recent as 2000, candidates who did not receive the true majority of votes by population, won because they had the majority of EC states votes. That means a candidate can in theory have just 22% of votes and the EC majority.
