"Tipped" workers, such as restaurant workers, are subject to a lower minimum Federal wage based on the tip assumption. The current Federal minimum wage is $7.25/hr; but for "tipped" workers the minimum Federal wage is only $2.13/hr. Some employers, seeking to undercut mandatory health insurance, are claiming fiscal hardship when they already get a discount of over $5/hr in paying employees.
To encourage honesty and eliminate companies which cannot compete on a level playing field, we request the Obama Administration to take any actions which it can to raise all "tipped" employees to $7.25/hr, excepting those companies which do not make employees part-time, do not engage in layoffs except due to a 20% or more reduction in business, and are fully compliant with "Obamacare".
