The 2nd Amendment was created before we had a professional military. We no longer need to own firearms "in order to form a regulated militia" as the Constitution reads. We have local, state, and federal law enforcement and five branches of paid military personnel.
If our peer countries can do without guns in every household and have a much lower crime rate as a result, we can, too.
Gun control doesn't work. Gun eradication will.
