Eliminate all forms of corn subsidies

Created by A.D. on September 23, 2011

The US government directly pays over $3 billion to subsidies the growing of corn, mostly to large corporations with high incomes. In addition, the government subsidizes several controversial corn products, such as ethanol and high fructose corn syrup.

This contributes to the incentive to grow corn in the place of other, much more efficient crops for the same purposes, such as sugarcane and switchgrass as sweetener and ethanol, respectively. In doing so, farmland is used for an inefficient fuel instead of food, and cheap, unhealthy foods are forced into the market.

End the corn subsidies, help create a healthier and more prosperous America.
