The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has in recent years developed a bad name amongst many Americans who support the Second Amendment. The BATFE, or "ATF" as it is usually referred to, is a federal law enforcement agency with powerful regulatory powers over federal firearms and ammunition law. Because of the heavy politicization of the BATFE in recent decades, Americans would be better off without the BATFE. Please eliminate this federal agency and re-delegate its explosives regulating powers to the FBI or another DHS agency. Please re-delegate the ATF's alcohol and tobacco regulating powers and duties to the FDA and to state level health and law enforcement agencies. Let the firearms regulatory aspect of the ATF be decided after President obama has left office in 2016.
