The cap on social security contributions is a disincentive to hiring. It creates an incentive to pay one individual huge paychecks while discouraging hiring others by capping the social security contributions on the one individual. The cap must be eliminated to encourage hiring and provide income to save social security.
Capital Gains, Dividends, and Interest are income which is taxed but no social security contributions are generated. This also creates a disincentive to hiring by allowing personal income to be converted into these types of income to avoid being used for social security contributions.
If we are serious about hiring and saving social security we need to make sacrifices, work together and put forth the effort to make it happen.
