Eliminate the Cap on Social Security contributions & include all income; such as Capital Gains: to protect our seniors.

Created by R.C. on January 17, 2013

Social Security is an insurance policy, not a retirement fund. It is there to ensure our Seniors are able to survive & hopefully avoid poverty. It is the most effective anti-poverty program in the history of our nation. In 1935, 90% of seniors lived below poverty. Today, despite millions more seniors, less than half live under the poverty line, because of this supplimental income. Right now, SS has a 2.7 Trillion dollar surplus, which protects it for another 40 years. However, removing the cap on contributions will make those who benefitted from the labor of our citizens pay their fair share from the product of that labor. Keeping SS solvent requires one change: remove the cap so everyone pays a flat percentage of their income. The Poor, the middle class and the rich: equal & fair.
