Obama has said that, if he had his way, he would eliminate the penny. I propose that we take it a step further and retire those coins that use the cent. This would eliminate the penny, nickel and quarter. We can easily get by with dollar and dime coins and, with quarters disappearing, that ever inconvenient resemblance to the dollar coin will be moot. The cent can go the way of the mil, used only for postage.
