Columbus Day is the celebration of a slave trader, rapist, and murderer. He committed mass genocide against the Native Americans, pillaged their homes, and heartlessly took advantage of them. The signers of this petition believe the United States of America should not honor such a violent and selfish human being. The glorification of Columbus in our education system is unnecessary and fundamentally wrong. The truth should be taught, not fairy tales.
