Serving in Congress is supposed to be an honor, not a career. Many state legislatures do not pay their Assemblymen. I motion for the Obama Administration to eliminate Congressional salaries and instead, provide a stipend or per diem to cover travel and lodging expenses to and from the D.C. Area. How many other jobs can you work only 6 months a year (or less) and still receive a full salary and benefits? This will create a level playing field to the American taxpayers and provide a significant cost savings. Maybe then they can appreciate work that is done at minimum wage and finally start to get a sense of the true reality of their actions and the consequences thereof.
