Up until several decades ago, it made sense to have congressional members from each state make the long and costly trip to Washington D.C. in order to participate in democracy and stand up for the beliefs of their constituents. Today, with such amazing technology available at our fingertips, it is a complete waste of government tax revenue.
At this point in time, we are all looking to the government to prove that it can be fiscally responsible and efficient with our tax money. That is why the government should utilize technology such as the internet, and real-time video communication solutions, and bring the house and senate into the 21st century. By requiring congress to telecommute, the government will save tens of millions of dollars each year while creating jobs in technology and IT.
