The Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity Act of 2008 (2008 Act)weht along way in ensuring that the mentally ill, those suffering from substance abuse issue and those suffering form physicall ailments were treated equally/with Parity.
The 2008 Act however ignored group Long Term Disability Policues. There is blatant discrimination against the mentally ill in mnay if not all Group Disability Policies. This discrimnation is in writting and has been ignored for many years. As an example those suffering from Deep depression are limited to 24 months of benefits while those suffering from back injury can have coverage up to 20+ years.
We request that this discrimination is eliminated ASAP via legislative action.
