The death penalty should be repealed. The drugs used for execution are in high demand and limited supply. It costs more per year to house a prisoner on death row. There is always the moral component to this, such as the possibility that a person is indeed not guilty (like so many stories in the recent news). We should make a shift to a more progressive prison system that focuses on rehabilitation, not confinement and death.
This is an important first step to prison reform.
