The Federal Inheritance Tax is a theft of property from the legal heirs of thousands of hard-working entrepreneurs every year. They paid taxes during the creation of their businesses, such as property taxes, sales taxes, income taxes and others. It hurts the economy by taxing the businesses further when an owner dies. Often, the business must be sold or liquidated in order to pay the death tax, which can be up to 55% of the value of the company. This attacks the heirs of the dwindling numbers of family farms.
The Boston Tea Party was a measure of the discontent for the unlawful taxation of the colonies. Today, we have an equally unlawful attack on small business.
Please repeal it and ban it from ever being reinstated.
