The debt ceiling makes absolutely no sense, other than to limit spending on the back end after its already been spent. Agree to pay for what you buy at the same time congress agrees to buy it. To prevent running a budget defecit and to slowly, but surely reduce our debt, limit government spending to 95% of its revenue. Whether that balance comes from reduced entitlements or higher taxes is irrelevant. The goal we all share is an economically strong America.
