Eliminate the Department of Education

Given the $16+ trillion debt and the continuing $1 Trillion in increased debt each year, it has become obvious that we cannot remedy the situation merely with political manipulation of the tax codes and painting the wealthy as evil. We must reduce the size and scope of the Federal Government. One step is to eliminate the Department of Education and return the authority and responsibility of education to the states and the parents of the children. Since the inception of the Department of Education in 1980, the US has spent in excess of $16 Trillion on education with abysmal results. It is time to rip control of education out of the political zealots and return it to people that have a stake in education other than paychecks.
