1) Pennies cost more to make than they are worth (1.8 cents to make a 1 cent penny).
2) The US Mint manufactures four billion pennies every year, despite the above fact.
3) Neither vending machines, toll booths, nor laundromats accept pennies by themselves.
4) New Zealand and Australia both got rid of their one cent coins and saw no rising prices. Other countries have done the same.
5) Overseas US Military bases have abolished they penny by automatically rounding to the nearest five cents.
6) Pennies become worth less every year thanks to inflation.
