The Double Jeopardy clause is part of the Fifth Amendment and prevents a person from being tried for the same crime twice. This has been abused in one instance when two white men killed a black boy in the mid twentieth century. The men were found not guilty by an all white jury, after which they sold the story of how they committed the murder to Time Magazine for a large sum of money. A disadvantage of eliminating the clause is that politicians could put their opponents on trial again and again, so a solution would be to have it only extend to cases of violence. The clause is violated often, anyways, as even after murder suspects are found not guilty they can be dragged back into court again if new evidence is found. The elimination of the Double Jeopardy Clause would help bring justice.
