The Electoral College was established in a time where the country was more unstable and the initial goal was to protect the presidents office from democracy.
The current system does not support democracy but harms it by allowing candidates to be elected although not having the majority of the popular vote. It's time to adapt the presidential election system to a modern society and eliminate the Electoral College
