At the creation of this ciuntry, we needed a system like the electoral college because they laced the communication methods and travel times were longer. We have advanced greatly as a nation since then and the electoral college is outdated. The people should speak for themselves. The president should be elected by the will of the people, not by the will of the college. Presidents in the past have lost the presidency while winning the majority of people's votes. The most recent example was George W Bush. Let the people's vote count for something.
