Eliminating the Electoral College and electing the President by popular vote is more Democratic. There are plans to use gerrymandered House of Representative district results to choose electoral college votes in states controlled by Republicans. Even without this new plan, it is wrong that a few swing states with partisan state election officials have so much power over the will of the majority of the peoplw and the popular vote.
