eliminate the excessive penalties and interest that student loan service providers charge to those in default.

Created by D.B. on January 28, 2014

Student loan service providers tack on a 25% penalty plus interest on to loans that have gone into default status, making it much harder for graduates to recover from economic hardship. Student loan service providers should not be allowed to apply these penalties, especially since they practically are guaranteed to recover their money--even if it means taking away someone's social security check when they retire.
