Eliminate Farm Subsidies

Created by M.T. on January 20, 2013

End farm subsidies and utilize those funds to help new/beginner farmers with cash-flow needed to get up and running - rather than continue to spend taxpayer dollars on programs that promote instability, encourage poor farming practices and do nothing to promote small-scale agriculture. Instead of a single farm consisting of 2,000 acres, imagine 40 farmers each with 50 acres. This allows more farmers, and their families, to occupy land that might otherwise be enveloped by development or continue to be degraded by poor agricultural practices. Commodity or large scale farming continues to have serious environmental consequences. Many of these destructive practices can be reversed by creating smaller communities of farmers working together.
