The tax code is currently an impossible to understand mess with loophole after loophole. Americans are forced to waste millions (maybe billions?) of dollars on computer software and professional help just to prepare their taxes because the laws are so convoluted.
Simplify the tax code with a NATIONAL SALES TAX!
Make sure lower income Americans aren't disproportionately burdened by exempting items like groceries, public transportation, education related expenses, low-income rent, preventive health care, etc. On the other end, make the tax higher for certain luxury items like sports cars mega-mansions and yachts.
