I petition that Jury Duty be eliminated and replaced with professional jurors.
Process: Jurors would be a career field similar to a paralegal. People wishing to enter the career field would be required to get an Associate's Degree and a certification according to the type of suits/cases they would hear. The government could accredit organizations to establish criteria for certification and continuous learning. Prospective jurors should have a background investigation completed (like law enforcement)
Benefits: Time saved in Jury selection. Time saved explaining "probably cause" and other legal terms. Civil rights protected by professionals persons and not subject to persons who view the duty as an inconvenience. Time saved in deliberation. More consistent criminal trial outcomes.
