Eliminate the largest individual part of our national debt, that which is owed to ourselves.

We owe approximately $2.4 trillion dollars to Social Security. Instead of tax hikes on the wealthy, we should ask them to forgive the amount owed to them for their Social Security contributions as they've probably saved for retirement using other avenues anyways. We then ask all citizens under the age of 40 to forgive what they are owed by the program while continuing to pay into the program until they are 45 or until all liabilities have been satisfied, whichever happens first. Afterwards, those individuals will no longer have to pay the 6.2% Social Security tax for the rest of their lives. In this way we actually pay for our $2.4 trillion dollar liability, guarantee benefits to retirees currently 41 and older, and return 6.2% of our future income back to the next generation.
