A federal mandate to destroy decommissioned oil production rigs is resulting in the destruction of valuable habitat that is beneficial to marine life as well as sport and commercial fishing. Further, the processes that are used to destroy the habitat (explosive charges to cut the supporting structures of the facilities) also destroy the marine life itself. This process should be discontinued, or at least modified to preserve the man-made habitat but prevent the needless destruction of marine life. view at http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kYFKLkC7tpE
