Eliminate or Reduce income tax on retirees receiving less that $60,000 per year.

Created by B.S. on January 25, 2012

I believe that income tax on federal, state and private sector retirees who receive an annuity of $60,000 or less per year should be eliminated. I don't believe an annuity should be considered income because it is not salary earned during the year, but rather money based on a person's earnings throughout his career, which by the way, was taxed as it was earned. If the investment dividends of the wealthy should not be taxed because it is not salary, as some in Congress believe, then I believe the retirement annuity should be viewed the same. A retirees annuity is a fixed monthly amount which they must survive on. With mortgages, the cost of prescription drugs, medical co-pays, food, the cost of gas and other daily expenses, many seniors can barely get by.
