Eliminate the paper $1 bill in favor of the $1 coin

Created by C.E. on December 07, 2012

The paper dollar wears out and has to be replaced too quickly! The alternative, dollar coin, can remain in circulation for 30+ years. The dollar coin won't really be accepted until bills are no longer an option.
The whole process would take several years to fully implement, but the first step would be to stop making new dollar bills. This would allow the already minted dollar coins (over 1 billion) to be taken off the shelves at the federal reserve banks and put into circulation. Over time, the remaining dollar bills would wear out and have to be destroyed. As the bills become scarce, coins will be the only option and will gain acceptance.
Dollar coins, once accepted, will save the government money!
