Many Americans have had to take early distributions from their IRA's, 401k's, etc. in order to try and survive during this Great Recession. The circumstances that led me and many others to take an early distribution are extraordinary to say the least. A campaign promise to eliminate the penalties in 2008 by Obama has not been realized and I am asking the Administration to honor this promise and help the thousands of Americans who not only had to tap into their retirements and take their own hard earned money, but also are penalized for trying to survive. Also, while the taxes have to be paid on some of the distributions, please reduce the tax rate, interest and penalties for not paying the income tax within a year and you have to go on a payment plan.
