Pennies have become useless in the US cureency. It costs 2.4 cents just to make one, and the US Mint wastes around $100 million just producing them (a loss of about $60 million). This money could go somewhere where we need it more.
Other countries such as Australia, Sweden, and Canada have abolished the penny. It's time that the US does too. According to retirethepenny.org, it takes an average person roughly about 2 seconds getting change from their wallet. Many people get frustrated waiting for people to pay and pennies also weigh down our wallet.
It's time to eliminate pennies from our currency. They do nothing but weigh us down, annoy us, and cause a burden on our economy. Please sign this petition so the White House can see that pennies are pointless and need to be eliminated.
