This is a completely non-partisan issue. It is apolitical. It is simply eliminating an incredibly inefficient and costly coin.
Pennies cost more to mint than they're actually worth, costing millions of taxpayer dollars every year.
Both consumers and vendors generally dislike dealing with pennies.
By clumsily fumbling with pennies, Americans waste what adds up to a huge amount of time over the course of a year, which according to some estimates wastes over $1 billion annually in productivity.
Numerous other nations have eliminated their penny equivalents without an increase in prices or a decrease in charitable donations.
There are numerous ways to implement sales tax without pennies, including but not limited to implementing the sales tax into the listed price.
It just makes sense.
