The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) have learnt with sorrow and grief the killing of Mr. Parminder Singh Shergill by the State police which sad and unfortunate event took place in Lodi, California during the last week. It has sent shock waves among the American Punjabi Sikh community who often are targeted on the basis of their ethnicity and suffer humiliation at the hand of law enforcement agencies.
The victim Shergill, 43, an army veteran who participated in in 1990-91”s operation desert storm, suffered from Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSO) and was exhibiting signs of flare- up before two officers of the law enforcement unit shot him dead at a point blank range
