Riders are provisions added to legislation, often as a way of passing a provision that could not pass on its own, or as a way of gaining additional support for a particular bill or measure, even though the provision has nothing to do with the bill in question. In the end, we the people, have no way of knowing our representative's true motive for supporting, or refusing to support, a particular piece of legislation, because we don't know if it was the main body of the bill they are or are not supporting, or a rider. It is time to end this ridiculous practice, and require that all language and actions introduced in a piece of legislation, are directly related to the subject of that particular piece of legislation.
