The Selected Service Agency collects the information on all US males who have reached the age of 18. This information is collected to ensure that the US has a pool of men to draft in time of war.
There has been no draft in this country for 30+ years. The US has an army of volunteers not draftees.
This agency is also discriminatory - in that it only collects the information on males. Females have proven that they are just as able and willing to serve their country.
The names and addresses of all 18 year olds could be collected via a line on tax returns or other such documents. Keeping an Agency running to collect this information - information that has not been used in 30 years - is a waste of tax payers dollars.
The USG can no longer afford to waste dollars on this Agency.
