eliminate SNAP-Supplemental Nutrition Assist. Program, NEGATIVE offset changes for COLA rises for SSI & SSD recipients.

Created by G.K. on January 26, 2013

Currently, regulations require Food Stamps, or SNAP or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits be REDUCED approximately 50% of any COLA or Cost of Living Adjustment. For any say one dollar of COLA upward adjustment, SNAP benefits are reduced by half or fifty cents. This effectively cancels out a significant amount of the COLA adjustments for seniors and the poor. This is a hidden "tax" on seniors and the poor which should not be.
