Eliminate student loan debt to stimulate the economy and help graduated students

Created by B.P. on January 20, 2013

Student loans are a long term source of debt for most graduated students. Making payments on these loans (most of which are government held) does not stimulate the economy.

We (the people who have signed this petition) propose that up to $45,000 of student loan debt be completely eliminated and forgiven immediately for any student who graduates or who has graduated with at least a 4 year degree. Freeing graduated students from this burden will allow them to stimulate the economy through spending in the private market.

Large sums of money have been previously used by the government to help banks and corporations. It is time to help individuals in a similar manner. A lifetime of tax paying by a graduated student will far more than pay back any student loan that was forgiven of them.
