Oil companies are reaping record profits and still receiving enormous government subsidies. Clearly the lobbyists for these companies have more power than the efforts to stimulate job growth in more environmentally sound energy production and conservation technologies. Proper representation in our governing bodies should not depend on channeling exorbitant amounts of money to high-paid lobbyists, especially today when citizens have amble opportunities to express their priorities directly to congress and the white house via internet.
