By some calculations, it is estimated that over 70% of farm subsidies go to farms that make over $2 million dollars per year. A vast majority of these 'farms' are owned by Monsanto, other large corporations, as well as Congressmen/women.
These farms are subsidized by the taxpayer to NOT grow specific crops. These 'people' chose to be farmers, they need to be responsible enough to choose their crops carefully.
Eliminating this particular subsidy would benefit the country by reducing the annual debt and would make a difference in the deficit. It would be small at first, but would grow in time.
It is unconscionable that struggling taxpayers who already pay for a Congress that does no work, have to pay Congressmen/women, and corporation to not grow certain crops.
This inequity needs to end.
