Eliminate Tattoo Restrictions on Service Members

Created by C.B. on June 08, 2013

What is proposed in this petition is that restrictions on tattoos be removed. Service members have deployed and served with honor and valor, in combat, for 12 years. A tattoo sleeve, for example, should not dictate their professionalism; which has been demonstrated again and again with the success and heroism that’s has emerged from conflict. Tattoos are an expression, which neither interfere with a service members job nor his/her professionalism. Tattoo policy should be DOD wide and consistent.

What this petition is NOT proposing is allowing tattoos that are extremist, indecent, sexist, offensive or racist in nature. It also does not support tattoos on the face or skull, those would be justifiably distracting and unprofessional.
