Eliminate the Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) from the Department of Homeland Security.

Created by J.P. on March 05, 2013

The United States Merchant Marine credentials have always been issued by the United States Coast Guard until they fell under "Homeland Security". Since then, we have been subjected to additional security scrutiny by a newly created entity to duplicate what has always been a secure process by the United States Coast Guard. The merchant mariner documents, licenses, and U.S. Passport has always been the de-factor security document. We can all understand heightened security but now having to acquire the additional expense of obtaining and receiving a TWIC, is just another example of duplicitous bureaucratic profit taking. It is also a requirement to travel great distances and expense to receive this document because it cannot be received at any local police or secure government facilities
