Eliminate the U.S 1 Cent coin, the "penny", as uneconomical to manufacture and useless as currency.

The US one cent coin, also known as the penny, is no longer a practical unit of currency. While each penny is worth 1 cent, it costs 2.4 cents to manufacture, meaning the US Mint loses money as it makes more pennies. Pennies are now an impractical unit of currency, as no vending machine takes them, most prices (e.g. bus fares) already round to at least 5 cents, and the use of pennies in transactions or to pick them up off the ground requires more time than it would to take to earn this money at minimum wage. Indeed, pennies are more practical as a floor tile than as coinage. Eliminating the pointless penny will erase this economic deadweight loss and follow the precedent of other countries who have withdrawn their smallest coins, even as we eliminated the worthless half-penny in 1857.
